Originally published in 2009 as a novel by Seth Grahame-Smith just before zombie-fever hit pop culture with a vengeance, Pride And Prejudice And Zombies is a new twist on the classic story of manners and love by Jane Austen.
The Bennet sisters must traverse Regency period England as trained warriors and women of a marriageable age during a zombie outbreak. Elizabeth is headstrong and determined to walk a warrior’s path, refusing to even consider marriage until, of course, Mr. Darcy comes along.
The film stars Lily James (Cinderella) as Elizabeth, Lena Headey (Game Of Thrones) as Lady Catherine de Bourgh, Matt Smith (Doctor Who) as Mr. Collins and Sam Riley (Maleficent) as Mr. Darcy.
Fans of the original story will adore Mr. Bennet as he proves he’s just as lovable (and progressive) in this new adaptation of the classic tale with lines like, “My daughters are trained for battle, Sir. Not the kitchen.”
This trailer is everything we’d hoped it would be. Plenty of zombies and fantastic fights scenes as well as longing looks and men in waistcoats. Pride And Prejudice And Zombies is due out in theaters February 5th, 2016 and this writer will be first in line.
