Funimation Delays Noein And Collector’s Edition Of Tokyo Ghoul

Finding a minor defect in the packaging, Funimation has decided to delay the release of Tokyo Ghoul and Noein until 2016.

The regular and premium editions of Tokyo Ghoul were released on Tuesday as planned, yet the show’s impressive collector’s edition was notably missing from Tuesday’s batch. After removing the product just days before the show’s September 22nd release date, Funimation confirmed that they have delayed the release date of Tokyo Ghoul’s collector’s edition due to “some physical defects” found within the final product. A new release date will be announced and fortunately Funimation promised that the collector’s editions pre-orders “are still valid.”  Funimation initially shipped the product out to retailers, but quickly recalled it after discovering the defects.

In addition to this delay, Funimation has also pushed back the release date of Noein – to your other self. The series was initially set to be released in November of this year and has now been shifted to January 12, 2016. Funimation describes the plot of Noein, which is a relatively smaller anime, as:

From the director of the classic fantasy epic Vision of Escaflowne and the studio that bought you the stunning scifi visuals of Macross Frontier comes a story of warring parallel dimensions and the one girl who could control them all.

When summer break begins, Haruka is only thinking of hanging out with her friends—until one fateful night she learns that she’s the keystone in an interdimensional battle for not only the Earth’s future, but the very survival of all existence across the multiverse. She will have to trust not only herself, but multiple versions of her friends from parallel dimensions. One of these visitors identifies himself as the future version of her troubled childhood friend Yuu. Karasu swears to protect her from the god-like Noein who wants to use her to collapse all reality. When Haruka learns she has the ability to not only see, but influence every possible future, will she be able to protect infinite worlds along with her own.

Tokyo Ghoul is now available on Blu-ray/DVD (Regular & Premium Edition only) and Noein – to your other self (The Complete Series) is scheduled for release January 12, 2016.
