There was a lot riding on the line for those involved with the TV adaptation of the Coen Brothers’ cult classic film, Fargo, but any fears that the show would receive a reception as frigid as its set atmosphere have been effectively cooled as ratings for its Tuesday premiere came rolling in.
As it turns out, the adaptation, starring movie megaton Billy Bob Thornton and Sherlock star Martin Freeman is a hit with US audiences, debuting with 4.15 million viewers having tuned in! 1.79 million of those viewers struck the key demographic of 18-49 years of age, too, so there’s much to be lauded about the 2014 miniseries’ premiere.
In reception of Fargo’s intensely solid ratings, FX will be airing three encore runs of “The Crocodile’s Dilemma” on Wednesday, April 16 at 12:20 a.m. ET/PT, Thursday, April 17 at 1:00 a.m. ET/PT, and Saturday, April 19 at 1:00 a.m. ET/PT.
Fargo has also received top-notch reviews by critics across the board, with Karen Valby of Entertainment Weekly saying that the TV adaptation, “boasts unique and satisfying hooks.”
