In a recent interview with Playboy, actor Gary Oldman took deadly aim at political correctness and blew it all to Hades…  well, at least he tried to.

In the interview, Oldman talks of his frustration with the absurdity that is political correctness, essentially saying it’s made it impossible to speak because we’re so afraid of offending someone, and someone will always be offended. Oldman bent in a fiery lament over the hypocrisy of punishing those who we deem incorrect when there’s not a man jack among us who hasn’t been offensive to someone or just said something without thinking.

“Just learn to take a f*ing joke,” he exclaimed, “…Which to me says, when did we become so thin-skinned that we can’t handle any kind of offense?  Political correctness is cancerous growth impeding our ability to communicate effectively.”

The full interview more clearly expresses his opinion: none of us can say we haven’t said something offensive, being a celebrity doesn’t make you any less prone to doing it, and could we all just grow up and stop everything so personally?

In a dreadful twist, Oldman will be issuing an apology to any who might have been offended by his candor. Though frankly, most of the comments I’ve seen have been raging sighs of relief for someone who’s finally willing to stand up for what he believes in.
