Geoffrey Rush is heading back in time to Ancient Egypt. It was announced this week that he has finally signed on the dotted line and been cast in Gods of Egypt.
The mythological adventure film from Egyptian-born Australian-raised filmmaker, Alex Proyas, will follow the adventures of Horus, the sky god (played by Game of Thrones’ Nikolaj Coaster-Waldau) who is out to avenge the death of his father, Osiris, at the hands of his brother, Set. It all sounds very Hamlet-esque. Joining him on his vengeful journey is the goddess Hathor and a human thief.
According to reports from The Hollywood Reporter, Rush will play the old sun god, Ra. He is also the father of Hathor.
Also in talks to appear in the film as Set is 300’s Gerald Butler.
