Get ready to pledge defiance… again!

In an awesomely unexpected move, AMC has decided to renew newcomer Turn for a second season.

This comes hot on the heels of both Turn and fellow AMC newcomer, Halt and Catch Fire, maintaining consistently low ratings for the first seasons when compared to TV bad boys The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad. Therefore this comes as a surprise to many fans of the show depicting a loose adaptation of the stories of the Culper Ring, America’s first real organization of spies.

The real question here is: “What can match The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad in ratings?”

Having around 2 million viewers present for its final episode of the season, Turn managed to make up for enough of its losses to warrant  a second season already, in my mind. Upping the amount of promo for the series should naturally help with the ratings for next season, too, especially with the American Revolution being as hot a topic as it seems to be in pop culture right now.

That, and Turn is genuinely one of the best dramas on TV today. If you haven’t yet, give it a watch! The tale of Abraham Woodhull will surprise you in how exciting it really is, and it’s in no small part due to amazing acting by its entire cast, which includes Jamie Bell (Abraham), Heather Lind (Anna Strong) and Samuel Roukin (John Graves Simcoe).
