So after months of speculations, the Ghostbusters all-female cast was cryptically revealed by director Paul Feig.
Without further a-ghoul (heh heh), the cast is revealed.
Courtesy of TwitterFeig, who also directed Bridesmaids has, in a move that surprises no one, cast funny ladies Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy as two of the resident Ghostbusters, with Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones from Saturday Night Live rounding out the phantom-fighting cast.
I can feel my sides sore from laughter already.
While it hasn’t been totally confirmed, Feig’s tweet seems to be a solid indicator and all we have to do is wait for them to sign on the dotted lined before the deal is sealed and we have our Ghostbusting Quartet.
The Hollywood Reporter has announced that the film is due to start filming in New York this summer. Even Hollywood legend—and original cast member—Bill Murray has given the film and cast his seal of approval.
In fact, the project has been ongoing, and this is the first attempt at a reboot that seems to have gained legs rather than stay on the ghostly realm of unmade movies.
Paul Feig is no stranger to funny, having directed the aforementioned Bridesmaids, upcoming movie Spy starring Melissa McCarthy and Jason Statha, and several episodes of the phenomenal Arrested Development. All in all, we think the Ghostbusters are in good hands.
