It was recently announced that Sam Taylor-Johnson would direct the controversial book turned movie 50 Shades of Grey so it was inevitable that the casting rumors would start up again as it seemed the movie was finally moving into production. There have many names tossed around for the coveted role of Anastasia Steele, such as Emma Watson, Mila Kunis, Amanda Seyfried and many more. But now, it seems that someone new has re-entered the race and has everyone speculating.
Though the casting process of the film adaptation of E.L. James’ best selling novel still remains a secret, actress Alexis Bledel (of Gilmore Girls fame) has re-emerged as a fan favorite to play the groundbreaking role of Anastasia Steele. Paddy Power, a betting company, considers Bledel’s odds at 5/1 of nabbing what is sure to be the lead of a huge movie franchise.
A spokesperson for the bookmakers have said: “We’ve seen a ton of money on Alexis Bledel and it’s clear punters fancy her for the role – we’ll be facing a spanking payout if she’s tied down for the role.”
