A few days ago 16-year-old Ella Birchenough was walking her dog, trying to slip her brand new iPhone back into her pocket when she heard a faint splash and saw that the phone had fallen into a drain.
Not being the type of girl to just let things be, Ella managed to remove the heavy metal drain cover and despite the opening being very narrow, she lowered herself down, feet first, intending to pick up the phone between her toes.
It was a few moments later she realized was truly stuck. Ella’s mother, Joanne Bichernough, soon dashed to the scene and scared that her daughter might sink, called the police and before long the fire brigade was there to save the unfortunate girl.
Luckily, Ella took the smelly situation light heartedly. “I was just laughing the whole time, I have seen the funny side of it. You just have to laugh along with it,” she shared.
It’s a good thing Ella took it so well, because her mum said, “she is never going to live this down now.”
