It has come to light that Santana Lopez will be singing The Band Perry’s “If I Die Young” as a solo dedicated to Cory Monteith’s character, Finn Hudson.

The context surrounding Santana’s performance as yet remains a secret but we do know that she will feature prominently in the episode with “a great, memorable part”.

The song’s lyrics are particularly poignant, and you can check them out by listening to The Band Perry’s original version below.

Santana is played by the exquisite Naya Rivera on the show, and this song sounds as though it will suit her voice perfectly. If the song alone is anything to go by, this tribute will undoubtedly be an incredibly moving experience for Gleeks and Cory fans around the world.

Amber Riley and Lea Michele will also have solos during the episode, but at the moment we cannot confirm what songs they will sing as Mercedes Jones and Rachel Berry.

It was announced two weeks ago that “Seasons of Love” from the Broadway musical Rent will be a group number featured in the tribute. Titled, “The Quarterback”, this episode will also revisit at least one of Finn’s more iconic songs from the show’s first season.

Hear “Seasons of Love” as it was sung by the cast of Rent in the 2005 film of the same name below.

To honour Cory, all proceeds from the episode’s songs will be donated to the charity set up in his memory.

And just to reiterate, we at PopWrapped decided to share song spoilers for this tribute episode with you guys because we saw how many of you wanted the opportunity to prepare yourselves emotionally before it aired.

We hope that nobody takes offense to these spoilers as we understand that not all Gleeks want to be spoiled given the circumstances but at the same time we respect those who do.

Our love and condolences go out to everyone, including the Glee cast and crew.
