Season Five of Glee has brought many tears of both laughter and sorrow to viewers’ eyes. And one source of comedy that was present in the other four seasons is noticeably missing, the character of Mike Chang.
Mike was briefly mentioned in episode 5.1, Love, Love, Love when Blaine casually mentions that Mike broke up with Tina because “She wasn’t Asian enough,” and then we see Mike in 5.3 The Quarterback when members of the Glee club, past and present, come together to remember Finn.
It is understandable as to why Mike has been missing, his character has graduated and he is not part of the group that went to New York. So what has Harry Shum Jr., the great dancer behind Mike Chang, been doing with his time away Glee? Dancing and acting, of course!
Shum Jr. is in two upcoming movies, Mom’s Night Out (May 9, 2014) and Revenge of the Green Dragons (2014). He has been working on Caper, an online series about super-heroes who have to pay the rent, promoting “Invisible Children” through the Ultimate Glee Experience, and has choreographed an interpretive dance to the voice over of “If you are in a shell.”
Of course Shum Jr. has also been working on Glee, prepping for its 100th episode, which will air on March 18.
If you can’t get enough of Harry, he spends time on social media, interacting with other stars as well as his fans. Follow him on Twitter and Instagram!
We love both Harry and Mike and are thrilled to see him dance his way back onto our screens for landmark 100th episode!
