Legendary Pictures, along with Warner Bros., announced today (August 14) that the sequel to box office hit Godzilla will premiere on the big screen June 18th, 2018!

Unfortunately for the impatient fans, that’s a bit of a long wait, but that just gives them more time to perfect the highly anticipated monster movie. Luckily Gareth Edwards, director of the first film, will reprise his position to direct for the upcoming sequel, according to Variety.

When Godzilla was released in early May, it raked in over $38 million opening night and a total of $90 million in just its opening weekend. As of now, the film has earned more than $500 million, with a budget of roughly $160 million, and overwhelmingly positive reviews for the remake!

At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, Gareth Edwards informed audiences that they in fact attained the rights from Toho pictures for extremely pivotal rivals to Godzilla. The announcement was made through a video at SDCC featuring the creatures with a line that read, “let them fight”.

Will you return to theaters along with Godzilla when he arrives in 2018?
