While people were putting the finishing touches to the Golden Globe celebrations, the awards hottest nominees were relaxing at the annual British Film And Television Art’s annual awards-season tea party at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles, on Saturday.
The guests, who included Sandra Bullock, Tom Hanks, Martin Scorcese, Cate Blanchett, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Aaron Paul relaxed and mingled with each other while having cucumber sandwiches and scones with cream.
Ejiofor was also joined at the event by his 12 Years a Slave co-stars Micheal Fassbender and Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch. Fassbender and Ejiofor had already taken awards from the 2014 AACTA International Awards for their roles in the film. While speaking about the film to Oprah Winfrey, Chiwetel said, “Nelson Madela says that if a man stands on another man’s neck, two men suffer. And that was really true and I could understand that in a really visceral way, it is psychologically devastating to everybody.”
According to the Huffington Post, “Other party guests, including TV Mogul Nigel Lythgoe, also popped by the HBO Luxury Lounge held at the hotel, where brands such as Pandora and Sophia Fiori Diamonds were hoping for last-minute placement on the Globes red carpet.”
Unfortunately, it was a mixed bag for the nominees at the ceremony on Sunday as both Ejiofor and Tom Hanks lost out to Matthew McConaughey for Best Actor in a Drama Motion Picture took home awards but Cate Blanchett took home the Best Actress in a Drama Motion Picture for her role in Blue Jasmine.
