Could Disney’s reboot of the Star Wars franchise bring back the dead? Well, maybe, if today’s information from Jedi News turns out to be correct.
According to an unnamed source, the Scottish actor is set to once again traverse to a galaxy far, far away in 2015’s Star Wars Episode VII. Despite his character’s climactic dead in Return of the Jedi, it seems unlikely that McDiarmid would return as anyone but Emperor Palpatine.
McDiarmid reprised his role in the prequel trilogy of the 90’s and early 2000’s. Palpatine would ultimately pave the way for Anakin Skywalker’s turn to the dark side.
The actor recently talked to Digital Spy at the Star Wars Celebration Europe. He expressed his excitement about the franchise’s reboot: “It’s great that Disney are going to take it forward and do it differently – things always have to change – and that George Lucas has released it to be done that way, in fact positively encouraged it.”
