Rumors are already floating around the internet about who will play Batman in the next Man Steel movie, Superman vs. Batman.
While there haven’t been any formal offers or meetings, and the script is not even ready yet, the truth is that whoever is chosen for the role will also appear on Justice League. So yes, it’s a big deal.

Rumors suggest that Warner Bros. is looking for an older Batman; a Bruce Wayne in his late 30’s or around his 40’s.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed some of the names that have surfaced so far: Ryan Gosling [32], Matthew Goode [35], Joe Manganiello [36], Josh Brolin [46], and Richard Armitage [41].

Gosling was previously attached to Warner Bros.’ Logan’s Run reboot and his directorial debut How to Catch a Monster will be distributed by the studio.

Matthew Goode has previously worked with Zack Snyder in Watchmen as Ozymandias, so he has some experience in the superhero world.

However, the two favorites seem to be Joe Manganiello and Josh Brolin.

Manganiello, according to Snyder, was considered for the role of Superman before they settled on Henry Cavill. This was largely because his schedule for True Blood didn’t make it possible for Manganiello to play the superhero from Krypton.

Brolin is said to be the “frontrunner” for the role, though WB sources downplay the talk, saying that casting hasn’t even begun.

Even though it’s early days, the casting could be closer than we think, as an early 2014 shoot is being eyed.

Out of these guys, who do you think would be the best Batman? Any other choices?
