The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration wants Graco to recall up to 1.8 million infant seats in addition to the more than 4 million toddler seats already in recall.
The Administration is citing faulty buckles that can get gummed up by food and drinks and some parents complained they had to cut the straps to free their children.
The NHTSA is concerned for the safety implications in emergencies. Graco responded by explaining that the seats themselves could be removed in an emergency, thus a recall had not been considered.
Both parties will continue to work together to resolve the issue. You can see a full list of seats for recall here.
