Guillermo del Toro believes that his forthcoming film Justice League Dark (or Dark Universe) can be in continuity with the DC Cinematic Universe established with Man Of Steel.

Toro is hoping that they will be able to start writing the screenplay for the film very soon. As of right now he is rewriting the “story bible” as they wait on a screenwriter for the project. He said to Warner Bros.. “I will rewrite the outline in the meantime.”

The production of Justice League Dark is supposed to start after his next project, Crimson Peak.

The script will feature John Constantine, Swamp Thing,  Madam Xanadu, Deadman, and Zatanna. They are the Justice League Dark superhero team that appears in comic books that are published by the DC Comics.

The film will not be an origin story for each character. The characters will already be be established and their backstory will be play throughout the film.

Toro had told MTV about the great thing about this film is that “it has this possibility of basically creating this supernatural group, and you can play with different worlds, I would love to see the DC Universe become as cohesive as the Marvel Universe.”

Toro also stated that if there was any correlation to that universe and this film he would be honor of it.
