Hans Zimmer Considering Scoring Man of Steel Sequel

Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer isn’t sure how he feels about scoring the sequel to this summer’s blockbuster Man of Steel. Again being directed by Zack Snyder and written by David S. Goyer, the next Superman movie will heavily feature Ben Affleck as a new incarnation of Batman; but, after scoring Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, Zimmer is understandably conflicted about returning to score an all-new Batman.

On the red carpet for the Rush premiere at the Venice Film Festival, Hans Zimmer told reporters,

This is really complicated for me. We all went, ‘Okay, we’re done with Batman’ and now it’s sort of getting smuggled back in. I have to have a think about that one. I might give you a new Batman if I do it.

Zimmer’s thoughts on Affleck as Batman were far more positive. “I actually think it’s a really good choice because #1, [Affleck]’s a great filmmaker, he’s smart – he wouldn’t have taken it if he [was] setting himself up for a fall. He’s a bit older these days and that’s what we need. And he’s got a good chin.”

Man of Steel 2 hits theatres on July 17th, 2015, and you can check out the interview with Hans Zimmer below!
