A move to the Friday night time slot usually means doom and gloom for any series, and things sure aren’t looking so bright for ABC’s sitcom Happy Endings. After a dip in the ratings and hitting a low of only 2.7 million viewers in January, the show – starring Elisha Cuthbert, Zachary Knighton, and Damon Wayans Jr. – was shifted to Friday nights in late February and is now in danger of getting axed.

Reports state that a possible move to cable could save the sitcom, if ABC decides on cancellation. Per Deadline, the show’s parent studio – Sony TV – has already been in talks with USA for a possible deal. The cable channel has shown interest in possibly picking up the sitcom if ABC doesn’t renew it for a fourth season.

ABC is no stranger to having their shows saved by cable channels. Just last year, Cougar Town – which was also on it’s third season – was cancelled by the network and picked up by TBS. Since then, it has already been renewed for a fifth season. So, not all hope is lost for the sitcom. Perhaps, Happy Endings will have a happy ending after all.
