I’m not going to lie; I worship Sir Paul McCartney. He is a god among men and I love him. I grew up with The Beatles, and I’m not even out of high school yet.
So March 11th is the equivalent of a holiday for me. Because today is the “Sweet 16” of Sir Paul’s knighthood by Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty knighted him for his “services to music.”
To say that Sir Paul McCartney did services to music is an understatement. He was part of the band that paved the way for “boy bands” and helped the development of rock music, as we know it.
McCartney told reporters at the time “Proud to be British, wonderful day and it’s a long way from a little terrace [street] in Liverpool.”
Aside from his Knighthood, Sir Paul also received the honor of Member of the British Empire (MBE) in 1965 as well as the other Beatles members.
