Harvery Weinstein has decided to take to film to get his point across; specifically, his less-than-favorable opinion of the gun-happy organization, the NRA.
It has also been announced that Weinstein has recruited Meryl Streep to assist him in telling the story of The Senator’s Wife.
In an interview with Howard Stern, Weinstated stated that, “I think the NRA is a disaster area. I shouldn’t say this, but I’ll tell it to you, Howard. I’m going to make a movie with Meryl Streep, and we’re going to take this head-on, and they’re going to wish they weren’t alive after I’m done with them. It’s going to be like crash and burn.”
Weinstein holds this particular project near his heart, stating that he’s “got to do this one. This has bugged me my whole life. This has been a project I’ve searched for ever since my aunt gave me the book when I was a boy.”
The vocal Obama supporter also stated that the film isn’t going to be “a Holocaust story as much as it’s Jews with Guns.” He also stated that he would happily “find a gun” if he was presented with horrors like that of which were faced in the Holocaust, but that he doesn’t believe that we “need guns in this country.”
At this time, the project is still very much “in development,” as no director or writer has yet to come forward with their involvement. But the announcement comes fresh off of reported star Streep’s Best Actress nomination at yesterday’s Oscar announcements.
