This may seem random but it’s also pretty awesome! Everybody’s favourite kook, Helena Bonham Carter, makes a very special appearance in UK store, Marks & Spencers‘ new Christmas advert, alongside several literary allusions and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Alice in WonderlandAladdin and The Wizard of Oz take the rather glamorous stage in this ad, which runs for an unseasonably long two and a half minutes.

The blonde model begins by falling through a rabbit-inspired-manhole to join a Mad Hatter’s tea party led by David Gandy; then escapes through an elaborate gingerbread house; before drifting to a yellow brick road via magic carpet, escorted by Aladdin.

Bonham Carter makes a brief cameo appearance as the almighty Oz and hands dear Rosie Huntington-Whiteley a sweet little dog after she’d popped back into the real world.

We can never get enough of Bonham Carter so it’s a thrill to see her attached to another piece of iconic fantasy. Wicked casting people, please take note.

The lady herself commented on her role in the ad: “I live with Tim Burton so for me to play the dismembered head of a wizard is a normal thing to do.”

Adventurous festive adverts have become the hallmark of Christmas in the land of retail. This ad comes to us as part of M&S’s “Believe In Magic And Sparkle” campaign and will begin to air in the UK on Wednesday, November 6.
