“Hello Kitty” fans gather ‘round. Our favorite feline is getting a makeover and set to be revived by way of graphic novels from Viz Media. Digital Spy reports Viz Media, a publisher, got together with “Hello Kitty” license holder Sanrio and came to an agreement to release a series of original books based on the popular Japanese icon.
Viz Media will release the Hello Kitty line along with a special edition comic at this summer’s Comic-Con International (be still our nerdy hearts) that will feature a cover by Jacob Chabot and interior art by Victoria Maderna, Ian McGinty and Chabot.
According to Viz Media senior editorial director Beth Kawasaki, “The new wordless comic and graphic novel series will appeal to Hello Kitty fans of all ages. We’re very excited to have Hello Kitty as part of the Viz Kids family of titles.”
The special comic for Comic-Con will have a companion piece, Here We Go!, which is a compilation of stories about the character’s world travels.
Hello Kitty fans, whom have been following the icon since the 1970’s and who has appeared in animated television shows, video games, and tons of merchandise, will definitely be in for a treat when this line of graphic novels gets release.
