British acting powerhouses Tom Hiddleston (Thor) and Hugh Laurie (House) will be teaming up for a new television limited series based on John le Carré’s 1993 best-selling spy novel, The Night Manager.
The novel follows the exploits of Johnathan Pine, a former British soldier who takes on the position of night auditor at a luxury hotel. Things don’t stay behind the front desk for long after Pine’s encounter with a guest leads him into a black market world of espionage and murder.
Several of le Carré’s works, including Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Constant Gardener and The Spy Who Came In From The Cold, have previously seen success in film and television versions.
The TV adaptation of The Night Manager will air on the BBC in the U.K. with several U.S. companies already vying to pick up the series. A filming schedule or air dates have yet to be announced.
I for one can’t wait to see these two incredibly talented and versatile actors go head-to-head in a weekly series! I might finally break down and get a big screen TV for this one!
