Highlights Of Those Sony Leaked Emails

The major Sony hack had a lot of emails surface online and they revealed a whole lot of information about upcoming projects and stars.

If you breathe air and drink water, then you’re probably aware of that massive Sony hack and all the drama with The Interview. Well, there were quite some interesting information to come out from those leaked emails of Amy Pascal and here’s the most important of them.

Aaron Sorkin, screenwriter of Steve Jobs biopic, wanted Tom Cruise to star in the film. Leonardo DiCaprio was also a candidate for the role, while Tobey Maguire and Matthew McConaughey reached for the part. Christian Bale was later considered to star in Jobs as well. Eventually, Michael Fassbender was pretty much locked for the part. Tom Hanks and Seth Rogen eyed Jon Sculley and Steve Wozniak respectively, while Natalie Portman was being suggested for the role of Joanna Hoffman. Director David Fincher ended up out of the project, with Sony losing Jobs to Universal.

In addition to that, David Fincher’s potential involvement in Jobs made Angelina Jolie furious. The actress wanted him to direct her very ownCleopatra, taking from Eric Roth’s script. Even though both the star and the writer were able to push the director and even got to talk with him, Roth had yet to make his draft what it was meant to be and Angie took some time-off from the issue to direct Unbroken. Her willingness to get Fincher didn’t make producer Scott Rudin happy, who wanted him to direct Jobs and went on to call her a “minimally talented spoiled brat” with a “rampaging spoiled ego”.

Later on, Fincher suggested Martin Scorcese to direct Cleopatra. However, he wouldn’t be available until 2016 and Angelina was unwilling to wait that long to get started. While she mentioned Fincher again after he walked away from Jobs, Tomas Alfredson was approached and ended up not being available. Ridley Scott  was also suggested, but the actress didn’t show interest in him. Pascal and Rudin suggested remaking Shakespeare’s Antonio and Cleopatra, but Jolie liked Roth’s script and thought that “making it a love story would make less of female leadership and epic”. After a long time of discussions without a solution found, Scorcese was later reapproached for 2016.

In a really short and unlikely note, the possibility of Jennifer Lawrence replacing Angelina Jolie as Cleopatra was mentioned. Her name was also associated with the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot. Speaking of, it was also revealed that the Hunger Games star was paid less than her male co-stars on American Hustle and so did Amy Adams.

From Matthew Knowles reaching Sony for a Destiny’s Child biopic and Kanye West’s feature film, to Idris Elba being eyed as the next Bond, there were definitely a lot of little details. Other surfaced information from the leaked emails included the script and finale of the upcoming James Bond film Spectre, plans for an X-Men and Fantastic Four crossover, with similar plans for Spider-Man and its spin-offs, Spidey’s shaky future in general and possible crossoverwith Captain America, Jeff Nichols being the director of 2018’s Aquaman and some mocking for Barack Obama among the rest.

And that’s all folks!
