Harry Potter fans, it’s time to grab your wands and head to class! Thanks to the magic of the internet, you can now gain your education in Witchcraft & Wizardry from none other than the legendary Hogwarts itself!
Founders of the website Hogwarts Is Here have created an amazing online re-creation of the Hogwarts student experience where you can pick your house, buy books and supplies, get to know your fellow students, and even take “real” courses!
Even though it’s all in good fun, be prepared to do some actual work to earn your skills and knowledge.
According to the site’s “Academics” introduction:
“Here at Hogwarts, we pride ourselves on the academic achievement and success that our students have achieved. Students are now able to enroll at Hogwarts, beginning as a first year taking necessary courses like Charms and Potions, and progressing through years until you complete all seven years of academics. Each course is divided up into nine weeks (lessons), where you will study the material provided and complete the work pertaining to that week’s lesson. You will have actual homework assignments, essays, quizzes and tests all graded by Hogwarts professors who have been fully trained on this new muggle technology.”
If you think you already have enough of the right sorcery stuff to teach others and write “curriculum”, you can apply to become a professor!
And if you have less to your name than a house-elf, don’t worry about fees. Thanks to the collective volunteer contributions of the super fans involved, it’s all free!
