Hoodie Allen is preparing for the release of his debut studio album, People Keep Talking, and has now made it available for pre-order. The fans who did buy their copy before it arrived were treated with a surprise, as they downloaded a free track, titled “Dumb For You”. A day hardly went by and the song had an accompanying music video.
The visuals find him thumbing a lift several times and always getting out of the car, even when he needs to jump out of it while it’s moving. The clip begins and ends with short scenes of his girl in a car, so since they spend all this time apart, you’re only left to find out how things turn out for them in the finale. The video managed to surpass 130,000 views in only its first day of premiere.
The rapper totally caught his fans by surprise. The release of the single, with its video and all, caused quite a fuss on social media. “Dumb For You” debuted at #1 on both Billboard and Twitter’s Trending 140, while also topping the iTunes hip-hop chart and becoming a top 5 hit in iTunes overall. Not bad at all, right?
