The new home-invasion horror film Hangman has officially been acquired by Alchemy for U.S. distribution; the found footage style movie was already screened at SXSW earlier this year to audiences. Hangman stars Jeremy Sisto (Clueless, Six Feet Under), Kate Ashfield (Shaun of the Dead), Amy Smart (The Butterfly Effect, Road Trip), and Ty Simpkins (Insidious 2, Jurassic World). The synopsis of Hangman reads:
“Returning from vacation, the Miller family find their home has been broken into. After cleaning up the mess they continue with their lives, shaking off the feeling of being violated. But little do they know the nightmare has just begun.”
From the introduction of the trailer, Hangman feels like it is going to be an intense horror movie, and that feeling or sense of security is tested when the masked intruders lurk without caution. Hangman looks similar to Paranormal Activity mixed with a slasher film like The Strangers, something that could be a fun take on the genre. I’ll definitely be watching Hangman when it’s officially released, with a great cast and a mix of horror themes for its premise it certainly appears to be an interesting new horror movie.
