Staff Writer The news of Philip Seymour Hoffman’s sudden death shocked the world and saddened his fans; it was another story of a life ending too soon.
With the release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Hoffman’s fan base amplified due to the devoted following of “The Hunger Games” book series. After his death, thousands of followers were left wondering how the beloved Plutarch Heavensbee would be featured in the next installment.
The director of the upcoming movie The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, Francis Lawrence, has explained how Hoffman will be featured in the film. In a conversation that was posted on The Hunger Games Exclusive between Lawrence, producer Nina Jacobson and screenwriter Peter Craig, the director stated “We finished the majority of his work. I think he might have had eight to 10 days left on our schedule. In most of those scenes, Phil didn’t have any dialogue. We are going to put him into those scenes, but we’re only using real footage. We’re not creating anything digital or a robotic version of him.”
It has also been said that most of Hoffman’s remaining scenes didn’t include dialogue, but in rare cases where there was a line, it would be given to another character like Haymitch or Effie. But the transfer of a line is only “in circumstances that we are able to do that without undermining the intent of the scene,” Jacobson said.
This news has sparked excitement knowing that Hoffman will still properly star in the hit movie. Newly released pictures of Heavensbee and President Coin, played by Julianne Moore, also have fans counting down the days until November 21st, the day The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 hits our screens!
