Introducing The New Pop-Punk Band The Pink Slips

We love introducing new bands and sounds to the world! Check out the new grunge pop band, The Pink Slips, and their new EP, Say L’ Or Venus!

Debut EP: Say L’ Or Venus

Who are the Pink Slips, you ask?

Vocals

: Grace Mckagan ;

Band Members

: Trent Peltz, Jason Kertson, and Keenan Bevans

Debbie Harry influence? Most definitely!

The whole cliche of a Rockstar’s offspring going into the music business is nothing new, to be honest. Oftentimes they find success like their parents, and other times they down right disappear and find other avenues to pursue.  The pop charts are currently dominated by the same type of raunchy – twerking -obscene sort of gestures to get their songs noticed by the public. However there are a few out there that don’t necessarily need that sort of exposure and let their unique voices and brash lyrics do the publicity for them.

It is refreshing to see that there are still some talented young females out there that don’t resort to taking their clothes off in order to be noticed. Which brings me to the reason why I decided to focus on this new band that I recently discovered (and quite frankly I enjoy immensely at the moment).

Hailing all the way from Seattle and beginning their career as early as 2013, The Pink Slips (with lead vocals by seventeen year old Grace Mckagan) have performed in various clubs – including the infamous

Viper Room

in Los Angeles and quite recently at the

Troubadour

night club, which has helped to launch the careers of various music artists, not to mention Grace’s own father’s career.

If the last name Mckagan sounds familiar to you,  perhaps it’s because she’s the oldest daughter of the famous bass player of Guns N Roses –

Duff Mckagan,

and her mother is non other than

Susan Holmes-McKagan

, famous supermodel and swimsuit designer to the stars. (SusanHolmesSwimwear)

Growing up with famous parents provided the young blonde an avenue to create her own brand of music, particularly if one has a famous Rock and Roll Dad, whom I am sure had a significant effect and influence to her career. Not to mention he is also her manager.

Now, it is time Grace Mckagan to shine with her debut EP, entitled

Say L’ or Venus,

a mix of punk pop with a raw and dirty attitude. Having listened to the 6 tracks on the EP, Grace’s sultry voice is a cross between Debbie Harry and Gwen Stefani, with a touch of Lana Del Rey. Mix them all together and you have a grungy, punk-poppy sound which is very refreshing in this overly daunting unimpressive music industry of today. Don’t believe me? Check out her debut single -“

Foxy Feline”

below.

Being a fan of her father, I have been following Grace Mckagan for a few months. While I have only heard bits or samples of her music courtesy of Youtube, I honestly wasn’t too sure about her vocal range. However, this debut EP is impressive, from the upbeat opening track of “Googlie Eyes” to the haunting track of “Cruella” – The Pink Slips have given fans a great introduction to their sound.
