The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is shaping up to be a shockingly good sequel, thanks in part to Jamie Foxx’s turn as villain Electro. Foxx said in a recent interview that his character in the superhero franchise isn’t just going to be a one-dimensional baddie, but rather will be a multi-layered and sympathetic villain.
The actor told Digital Spy, “I think with all of the Spider-Man villains there is a certain empathy to them,” said Foxx. “The way we crafted Electro – when he’s Max, you definitely feel for him, because he’s been sort of shut out and no one really cares about him. And it’s his birthday, and even his mom forgot his birthday, so you will feel that. So when he does turn into Electro, it’s serious venom, he really wants to hurt everybody, and when he feels like Spider-Man betrays him, he really wants to hurt him bad.”
Foxx will be joined by Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, and Paul Giamatti as fellow villain The Rhino. The electrifying sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man hits theatres on May 2nd, 2014!
