Love her or hate her; you cannot deny that Hillary Rodham Clinton’s got style.
During a speech at the Mandalay Bay casino resort in Las Vegas, a woman in the audience removed her shoe and launched it at the stage where Clinton was speaking about waste management on behalf of the Institute of Scrap Recycling.
Clinton sees the shoe flying in her periphery and flinches away from it; followed by an audible outcry from the audience. She then asks “Was that a bat?!” but recovers quickly and is able to joke about it. “My goodness, I didn’t know that solid waste management was so controversial,” Clinton exclaimed. She then asked if it was a “Part of Cirque du Soleil?”
The Scrap Recycling Institute proclaimed that the woman in question had no affiliation with their organization whatsoever. Mark Carpenter, a spokesman for the institute, stated that, “Our staff denied her access before she later rushed past security. An ISRI staffer then stopped her as she approached the stage. She was then handed over to law enforcement.” The woman was taken into custody by federal officials.
It’s not uncommon for protestors to attend the events featuring notable figures from opposing parties. Though, I must say, a flying shoe is definitely a creative form of protest. Check out the video below; you have to at least admire Hillary’s poise!
