Time for a show of hands: Who is LOVING this season of American Idol so far??
I expect everyone to have their hand up!!!
After a great day of auditions in Detroit, it was time for Atlanta to show Jennifer, Keith and Harry what they’ve got, and it all started off with Majesty Rose.
The 21 year old gave us her best Coldplay performance, accompanied by her guitar and it felt effortless. Her voice was beautiful and it was an easy YES from all three judges!!

First performance of the day, and a golden ticket given out – was this a sign of greatness to come from Atlanta?
Uh, no.
Alyson Ragona then took the stage with her rendition of the Queen classic “Bohemian Rhapsody” and……
Yeah. Just awful.
Thankfully, it didn’t last long and Chris Medina came in next with his beloved dog and wowed the judges with his voice (and Harry was smitten with the dog). The judges all agreed that Chris needed to head to Hollywood, and him and Bubby were sent on their way!

And now for one of my favorite auditions since the season began!
15 year old Jordan Brisbane came in on a mission. He was going to, in his words, “shut down this season of American Idol”, and he did just that! His cover of Bruno Mars’ “When I Was Your Man” had the judges loving him, although they warned him about his runs. They felt he went a little off track with them, but he had the natural talent, which is what the show is looking for.

The hits then just kept on coming, this time in the form Jess Meuse.
The guitarist belted out an original track, and she gave yours truly (and the judges) an amazing Stevie Nicks vibe with her voice. I loved Jess’ audition, and cannot wait to see how she progresses in Hollywood.

Rough patch time.
One after another, the judges seemed to be having a hard time, which I’m sure all of the viewers were as well. The show began to take a nosedive, but that all changed very quickly with Bria Anai.
The 15 year old diva stormed in with a mission, and after delivering a flawless rendition of an Adele track, the judges were quick to send her to Hollywood!

That was it for Atlanta though!!
Last night’s episode (January 23) may have only been an hour, but the performances were very memorable.
Next week, the action returns and more golden tickets will be handed out…
