This weekend’s box office report is in and results might scare you.
The results broke its record making $90 million, up 10% from this time last year.
Coming in at number one was Insidious Chapter 2 with a whooping $41 million for it’s opening weekend.
The movie, which premiered fittingly on Friday the 13th, was Fandago’s top pre-seller for the scary movie genre. The sequel stars Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne as Josh and Renai Lambert, a husband and wife who seek to uncover the secret that has left them dangerously connected to the spirit world. Produced by Blumhouse, Insidious 2 had a $5 million budget, making $36 million profit.
In second place at $13 million, was the new release, The Family, starring Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer. The film follows a mafia family under the witness protection program that want to change their lives. Glee’s Dianna Agron also stars as the two big name’s daughter. You can see our review of it here.
