Go, go Power Rangers! Take a minute to reminisce with your inner 90’s child and celebrate the fact that the Power Rangers will make their way back to the big screen more than 10 years after the first feature film. The Power Rangers film is currently being helmed by Lionsgate films with X-Men First Class writers Zach Stentz and Ashley Miller set to write the new adaptation according to The Hollywood Reporter.
They additionally state that Star Trek screenwriter Robert Orcci will join the creative team and serve as an executive producer on the reboot. The new Power Rangers installment will re-tell the story of high school students gifted with the Ranger mantle.
Though many may quickly dismiss the concept of a new Power Ranger film, the names attached thus far can’t help but make me somewhat giddy to watch how the talented creative team depicts the exemplary team of heroes in an all new era.
That being said, I still manage to hold out some hope for an appearance by the original characters in some recognizable way! There should be at least some respect given to the first generation of Rangers, right?
