Yesterday, we informed you that the surviving members of the Monty Python Crew were meeting at a press conference in London to speak about coming together for a once-off stage show.
A short time before the conference kicked off, Eric Idle tweeted a photo with the caption “Python meeting in progress. Just considering the Redditch bid…..”
Well, today it became official. Monty Python will be reuniting for a one off show in London next July and will mark the first new project seen by them in over thirty years.
At the conference, Michael Palin, director of the show Eric Idle, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones said they wanted to see if they were “still funny.” Idle, who will direct the production said that the audience can expect “comedy, pathos, music and a tiny piece of ancient sex”
A press release from the comedy group promised “some of Monty Python’s greatest hits, with modern, topical, Pythonesque twists”, with John Cleese saying that they would “almost certainly include popular sketches such as The Crunchy Frog and The Dead Parrot, but reiterated that there would also be “some new material.”” He did say however that there would be a certain amount of unpredictability to the way they performed their well known classics, adding “The main danger we have is that the audience know the scripts better than we do”
The London show will take place in the O2 Arena on July 1 and tickets go on sale November 25, with ticket prices ranging from £26 to £95.
