While there were claims that Jack Nicholson retired from acting because of memory problems, when the actor spoke with Britain’s The Sun he laughed off the reports of the reasons out there for him retiring from acting and gave out the real reason behind his lack of acting jobs recently
“I have a mathematician’s brain, I’m not going to work until the day I die, that’s not why I started this. I mean, I’m not driven. I was driven — but I’m not, I don’t have to be out there anymore. In fact, there’s part of me that never really liked being out there… You get older, you change.”
The veteran movie actor said that he decided to stop acting because he doesn’t feel any desire to make the sort of movie which is successful now.
“I had the most chilling thought that maybe people in their twenties and thirties don’t actually want to be moved anymore. They may want just to see more bombs, more explosions, because that is what they have grown up with. And I’ll never do that type of movie.”
In the same conversation he also spoke about his love life and his past on and off 16 year relationship with actress, Anjelica Huston.
“That annihilated me. I’m kind of childish emotionally and I did make a mistake in the way I handled it, I would love that one last romance, a real romance, but I’m not very realistic about it happening. What I can’t deny is my yearning.”
While he maybe yearning for new love in his life I’m sure many of his fans are yearning to see him in a new film in the near future. While there’s nothing in the works now anything is possible.
