Janay Palmer Rice Speaks Out For First Time And What She Should Have Said

Janay Palmer Rice took to her Instagram to defend her now husband, Ray, after very obvious domestic violence. Read what she did and should have said.

Janay Palmer Rice broke her silence today on the release of the video showing her being knocked out by her then fiance – and now husband – Ray Rice. If you’ve been living under a rock, Rice viciously hit her in an elevator in Atlantic City before dragging her unconscious body to the hotel floor.

Palmer Rice took to Instagram to actually defend Rice and place the blame squarely on the media.

I woke up this morning feeling like I had a horrible nightmare, feeling like I’m mourning the death of my closest friend. But to have to accept the fact that it’s reality is a nightmare in itself. No one knows the pain that the media & unwanted options from the public has caused my family. To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret every day is a horrible thing. To take something away from the man I love that he has worked is ass of for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific. THIS IS OUR LIFE! What don’t you all get. If your intentions were to hurt us, embarrass us, make us feel alone, take all happiness away, you’ve succeeded on so many levels. Just know we will continue to grow & show the world what real love is. Ravensnation we love you!

Yes, you just read that correctly. The woman who was viciously beaten by the man who claims to love her just defended that man and blamed the media and everyone else for her unhappiness.  Unfortunately, this is something we see all too often.  Just as a very sad reminder, less than half of domestic violence incidents are reported to the authorities. Less. Than. Half.  In fact, according to the FBI Uniform Crime Reports, about one third of female homicide victims are killed by an intimate partner. Domestic abusers don’t just suddenly start beating their victims, and they certainly don’t just stop abusing.

More importantly, they have a daughter together who will grow up thinking it is okay for a man to beat you unconscious.  Their daughter – and daughters all around the country – will grow up thinking that is “what real love is”.

In reality, most everything Palmer Rice is saying in her response should be aimed squarely at Rice himself.  In a perfect world, her response would read:

I woke up this morning feeling like I had a horrible nightmare, feeling like I’m mourning the death of my closest friend. But to have to accept the fact that it’s reality is a nightmare in itself. No one knows the pain that -RAY- has caused my family.  -THERE ARE CONSEQUENCES FOR EVERY ACTION AND RAY’S ACTIONS LED TO THE LOSS OF WHAT -he has worked is ass of for all his life -FOR-.  If  -HIS- intentions were to hurt -ME-, embarrass -ME-, make -ME- feel alone, take all happiness away, -HE- succeeded on so many levels.  -AND TO ALL THE LADIES OF ALL AGES OUT THERE- Just know -I LEFT HIM BECAUSE IT’S NEVER OKAY TO HIT A WOMAN AND I- will continue to grow & show the world what real love is. Ravensnation -I- love you!

I hope Palmer Rice finds strength, respect, peace, and love for herself and her daughter to place the blame solely where it belongs – on the man that beat her.
