The entire world saw Jennifer Lawrence’s fall on the Oscars red carpet last weekend as she waved to fans–her second one to date. She also fell on the way up to the stage to accept her award for Best Actress last year.
Between that and her yelling at someone off-camera in the audience as she approached the microphone to present on Sunday night, Leto is wondering if she’s putting on an act.
“Why are you laughing? What? Is this funny?” Lawrence called out.
In case you were wondering what on earth she was freaking out about, Leto revealed that host Ellen Degeneres was jokingly making hand gestures Lawrence’s way–causing Leto’s mother and brother to laugh.
“What she didn’t know was that Ellen was on the side … making, pantomiming [motions like], ‘Don’t fall, don’t fall,’ and my mom and my brother are all cracking up. I guess we don’t have any manners. You can take them out of Louisiana but you can’t take Louisiana out of them, right?” Leto joked.
“You know, I’m starting to wonder if this is a bit of an act,” the musician added, when asked about her fall on the red carpet.
For publicity, perhaps? Lawrence, despite not winning any awards, was one of the most talked about celebrities on Oscars night, after all…
