Following his directorial debut Bad Words at the Toronto festival, Jason Bateman ‘s next directing gig will be the adaptation of Kevin Wilson’s bestseller The Family Fang in which he will also star, alongside Nicole Kidman.
The movie will follow the lives or performance art artists who’ve forced their performance art onto their children, who’ve lived their lives always a part of the parents’ art. It would appear that the kids resent them more than they realize and come to blame them for how their lives turn out. As adults the children have distanced themselves from their parents.
Produced by Kidman, who will also star, the movie’s script will be penned by David Lindsay-Abaire whom Kidman worked with on Rabbit Hole. The script is adapted by Linsay-Abaire from his Pulitzer-winning play.
Bateman’s directorial debut Bad Words, acquired by Focus Features for a 2014 theatrical release, was a roaring success at the Toronto film festival and will no doubt be an indication of what to expect from the actor/director on The Family Fang.
