Jay Stolar Creates And Shares His ‘A Year Of Music And Advocacy’ Campaign

Jay Stolar creates “A Year of Music and Advocacy” to benefit the creation of his own music and to support those with mental illnesses.

New York singer-songwriter Jay Stolar is out with another campaign. This time around he has started “A Year of Music and Advocacy”.

Jay is not only campaigning for the creation of a new EP and full length album, but this is also to advocate for mental illness.

This project is not just about music. I know, that’s a little wild for a pledge campaign 🙂 But it’s true. Yes, I have spent 5 years writing, recording, re-recording and developing this EP. And, yes, a portion of the funds will go to spread this music far and wide. But this project is about more than that. By supporting this project, you aren’t just getting a new EP or a new album. You are supporting an artist in his mission to create music that makes a REAL impact and also to continue the mission to remove the global stigma around mental illness. This project supports two major things, the development of my mental health advocacy work through music, and the creation of a year long body of work called Raw Emotions.”

Stolar has worked with countless organizations over the years including: The Jed Foundation, Be Vocal, The Moth, Beat the Blues To Save, and Love is Louder to help with mental illness through his countless advocacy for the cause.

Jay Stolar’s #makesmefeelgood Project

Most recently Stolar has worked on developing the #makesmefeelgood project as part of this campaign. This project is to help speak loudly to mental illness.

“That may seem like a challenging thing to do, and it is, but the first step is simple: start by talking about what makes us feel good. OUT LOUD! By simply saying ‘My home makes me feel good’ or ‘My best friend makes me feel good’ or ‘The electricity of the city makes me feel good’ or whatever else, you are moving yourself one step closer to being able to speak up at a time where maybe something DOESN’T make you feel good. And that’s hard. But it’s real and it’s necessary.

This project will continue to support the funding of events surrounding the #makesmefeelgood project, telling my story at more events around the country, the creation of more mental health initiatives, and, by simultaneously building my platform as an artist, enable this message to reach more people around the world.”

There are only four days left to pledge to this wonderful campaign. You can go to  http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/stolar to show your support for this wonderful cause. To find out more about Stolar you can check him out on Facebook, Twitter and on his personal website.
