Leave it to Beyonce and Jay Z to surprise us all, yet again, with an unexpected treat. The “Crazy In Love” singers released a fake, though very convincing, trailer for a film entitled Run to promote their upcoming summer stadium tour On The Run. The trailer and tour are named after a song from Jay Z’s last album Magna Carta Holy Grail which was the follow up to their smash-hit collaboration ’03 Bonnie & Clyde.

The trailer tells the story of Bey and Jay getting mixed up with the mob and needing to go on the lamb and take matters into their own hands. The trailer is loaded with cameos from various celebrity friends of theirs including Jake Gyllenhaal, Sean Penn, Don Cheadle, Guillermo Díaz, Emmy Rossum, Blake Lively, Rashida Jones and her sister Kidada.

The trailer was directed by Grammy award-winning music video director Matina Matsoukas who has worked with many high-profile artists over the years including Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Eve and the late Whitney Houston. She and Beyonce have been working together consistently since 2007 when Matina directed the two in “Upgrade U.”

The “Drunk In Love” artists have made numerous headlines in the past year thanks to their surprise announcements. Beyonce shocked the world with her self titled album which was dropped without warning and last month the two confirmed years of rumors and finally announced their joint tour. Just when you think they’ve done it again and have shot an entire feature length film without anyone noticing, the trailer ends with a comedic note and a title card reading “COMING NEVER”.

I, personally, would love to see this film become a reality. The two have already dominated everything else. Why not move into the world of cinema? Until that day comes the pair behind Deja Vu can be found all over North America this summer in a stadium near you.
