Are you a fan of the 80’s? Have you been in paradise since the 80’s started making a resurgence in today’s popular culture? If so, you’re in luck, because Jem and the Holograms are making a comeback – this time in the form of a live action film!
In a Youtube video that premiered Thursday morning, Jon M. Chu, the director of the upcoming Jem adaptation, announced the project alongside the film’s producer, Jason Blum, and talent manager Scooter Braun.
In the video, Chu also reveals that he and his cohorts want to include their fans in the film’s production. They have encouraged talented fans to submit videos or photos as pseudo-auditions, wherein they can show off their singing, dancing or acting chops.
The film has its own Twitter up and running, which fans can interact with and respond to alongside the Jem’s Tumblr page.

Jon M. Chu has directed G.I. Joe: Retaliation as well as the Justin Bieber documentary, Believe. Not an especially impressive track record, but possibly one that will be well-suited to bringing Jem and the Holograms to the big screen.
