Jennifer Lawrence has certainly had her share of interesting roles since her career started. Her part in The Hunger Games one may strike some as unreal and fantastical, but she admits she can relate to Katniss Everdeen in some ways.
“It’s hard to say you identify with someone who’s facing life and death and war,” Jennifer says on intervew with Empire magazine for its November issue. “It’s not like, ‘Oh my God that’s, like, totally how I feel […] But there is the connection in that she doesn’t feel like just part of the town anymore. Now everyone treats her as a celebrity… Whereas she still feels like she’s part of them.”
Since appearing on the big screen, she says people around her have changed, sometimes they treat her as if she was an outsider, some sort of deity.
“I’ll go to get a coffee where I always get coffee and all of a sudden there’s this weird mood, and I’m like, ‘Come on, I still get coffee here, just say hello’.”
On another note, she jokingly said she’s become more of a bossy diva on set. “Well, of course I changed. I told them, ‘Things are going to be a little different around here from now on’.”
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire premieres November 22, 2013 in the US.
