We may have not seen the last of the younger versions of Magneto and Mystique in X-men.
In a recent interview with Cinemablend. Hutch Parker, producer of the upcoming X-men: Dark Phoenix, was asked whether Jennifer Lawrence who plays the young Mystique and Fassbender who plays young Magneto might be involved in the latest addition to the franchise.
Parker who has worked with both actors previously, by producing X-men Days of Future Past and X-men Apocalypse, did not confirm, but dropped hints that they might reprise their mutant roles.
“I’d rather not confirm any of those officially, but yes, the current story that we’re working on has that group involved as well as some of the younger characters that we introduced last time.” he said.
He then added, “We’re all sorting out exactly which mutants will be part of it, and which ones won’t. It is a bit more expansive than… obviously Logan was a bit more intimate of a story. This one’s a bit more expansive, and you know the comics, so you know how and why. We’re still kind of sorting that through.”
MTV’s Josh Horowitz also previously hinted at Fassbender’s involvement when he tweeted out “Want to know Fassbender’s X-MEN future? Bet big on him appearing in DARK PHOENIX but not NEW MUTANTS. Oh, I just saw Michael Fassbender BTW”.

Well I guess the possibility is bigger for Fassbender. But what about Lawrence? She had previously said that she would come back if Fassbender and James McAvoy who plays Professor X, would be involved.
There is no hint about McAvoy, but maybe if Fassbender signed on, she might be keen? I guess we’ll know in the coming weeks when Fox announces the cast.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix will be a retelling of the Dark Phoenix saga in the comic books in which we see the extremely powereful Jean Grey take on a more evil persona. There was an attempt to show this with the third movie in the franchise, X-men:The Last Stand, when Famke Janssen played the role. But it received a lukewarm response. Hopefully they could do better with the younger version of Jean played by Sophie Turner.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix is scheduled for a November 2, 2018 release.
