America’s love affair (or maybe just mine) continues with Jennifer Lawrence. The Hunger Games star recently opened up to French Magazine Madame Figaro about her experience with social anxiety. Lawrence notes that she was a hyperactive child who had a sort of spark inside her. When she entered school the spark diminished.
“We never knew what it was, a kind of social anxiety. But I had friends,” Lawrence explains. “I went to see a shrink, nothing worked.”
It wasn’t until Jennifer begged her parents to take her to a casting call in New York that she found the light again. She goes on to explain the shift in more detail, “I finally found a way [to] open the door to a universe that I understood, that was good for me and made me happy. I felt capable, whereas before I felt worthless.”
There is something admirable about stars who open up about their struggles. Jennifer is one of the more grounded celebrities in Hollywood and it shows.
“I want my life [to be] as normal as possible,” she says. “One of the dangers in [show business] is that things [move] too fast… I do not want to burn the stages of my life. I want to keep it simple.”
And simple it is. Instead of an assistant Lawrence has her best friend, what’s better than that? She notes that it’s nice to share time with her friend rather than someone who works for her. I can’t agree more! You can catch Jennifer in The Hunger Games Catching Fire opening this weekend!
