When we first met Jennifer Lopez, she was dancing her way into our hearts as a Fly Girl in the early nineties sketch comedy show In Living Color. Since then she’s become a film actress, singer, performer and entrepreneur.
Over the past few years, Lopez even graced our small screens as a judge on Fox’s American Idol, but instead of appearing as herself, she’ll be starring in a new NBC detective drama. Shades of Blue is set to premiere next year and has Lopez starring as Harlee McCord, “a single mother and dirty cop recruited to work undercover for the FBI’s anti-corruption task force.”
Not only will she star, but the “On the Floor” singer is one of the Executive Producers alongside Ryan Seacrest, Nina Wass, Elaine Goldsmith Thomas, and her manager Benny Medina. Adi Hasak, 3 Days to Kill writer, will join them in addition to writing for the upcoming show.
NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke expressed her excitement in working with the former Fly Girl. “Whether it’s producing, acting, singing or any of her other many entrepreneurial activities, Jennifer is an extraordinary talent and life force, and we’re delighted to be in business with her and Adi Hasak on this sophisticated show.”
In the world of acting, Lopez earned her first leading role in the biopic Selena and has had roles in several other films including Out of Sight and Enough. Although she had a role in one episode of How I Met Your Mother back in 2010, Shades of Blue will be her first starring television role since 1993. Are you excited to see Jennifer Lopez make an acting comeback?
