Don’t expect to see Jessica Chastain playing a damsel in distress in the next superhero flick. The Oscar-nominated actress sat down with The Guardian to discuss her upcoming Oscar buzzworthy projects and confessed that she would have loved to play the Black Widow.
Chastain has had many opportunities to play in a superhero movie; she actually snagged the role of Iron Man 3’s Maya Hansen, but dropped out and ultimately giving the role to Rebecca Hall.
“A couple of times I’ve gotten really close. The problem is, if I do a superhero movie, I don’t want to be the girlfriend. I don’t want to be the daughter. I want to wear a fucking cool costume with a scar on my face, with fight scenes. That’s what I’d love.”
Chastain recently criticized Marvel for not giving Scarlett Johansson her own Black Widow spinoff. Seriously Marvel, when is that Black Widow movie happening?
