John Green’s Let it Snow Gets A December 2016 Release

“Let it Snow”, John Green’s novel about a three part story of unexpected romance on a cold December’s night, gets a 2016 release date.

Get your Kleenex at the ready, folks: there’s another John Green adaptation in the works.

Let it Snow by John Green, Lauren Myracle, and the inimitable Maureen Johnson has been greenlit for a December 2016 release by Universal Pictures.

The studio announced the news on Thursday, June 18th that the film is to be released on December 9th , and the script will be written by Kay Cannon, who wrote Pitch Perfect 1 and 2, so you know it’s going to be in good hands.

The book is composed of three novellas, and Universal has described it as three unexpected romances that take place over Christmas Eve.

The rights for the film were optioned by Universal last year, most likely after seeing the success of The Fault in Our Stars and the phenomenal buzz surrounding Paper Towns.

John’s Green’s debut Looking for Alaska also is rumoured to have a release date next fall and Will Grayson, Will Grayson has also been optioned for the silver screen treatment.

Let it Snow will hit theatres only a week before Star Wars spin-off Rogue One, so film fans will be clambering to prepare for the holiday season with this tasty teaser. It also might cause a lag on the Disney films projected blockbuster status, as John Green fans are known for their loyalty and ardent nature. Likewise, Lauren Myracle and Maureen Johnson have a large following (which is to be expected, as they are both awesome authors and people), so the box office in December should be very interesting indeed.
