How many times have you looked in the mirror today? Once, twice, six times? A hair out of place, lipstick touch-up, straighten your shirt? Do you like what you see? Do you wish you could change something or several things about yourself so you’d be “pretty?” You already are.

John Legend released another song that will make you feel the feels deep down. This time not about your significant other, but the person you see and talk to the most – You.

The video for “You and I (Nobody In The World),” John’s second single from his album Love In The Future, debuted on July 10 and is dazzling people all over the world. The video depicts women of all ages, ethnicities, and social classes. It shows an array of women in various situations. They include one getting ready for her wedding, a young girl getting her ears pierced, a young girl with Down’s Syndrome at school, a cancer survivor taking off her wig, and a woman showing her mastectomy scars.

This video challenges our pre-conceived notions of what beauty is in our current society. We can take from this video a reminder to not be easily influenced by what the media tells us is beautiful and remember how important it is to love oneself.

I hope this video gets played as much as TLC’s “Unpretty” and Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.” Both were anthems of girl power and self-love.

John featured his wife Chrissy Teigen, Orange is the New Black‘s Laverne Cox and The Fresh Prince of Bel-lair’s Tatiana Ali in the video. The real women featured are also apart of a documentary entitled When I Look in the Mirror, which was created alongside the video to create awareness for the #OperationGirl Charity Challenge.
